What a beautiful ending to a lovely story, abbeybufo! Thank you! (Loved the bit about no-one knowing how old she was!)

Poor Margot, she was always forced into the 'naughty' role from infancy! Love the growing maturity she shows here and that the other two understood at last.

The nickname was from medical school so there were probably a few doctors around the hospital who knew him as Jigger - enjoying this story thoroughly!

Author's Response: Thank you! Feedback like that does make me more confident to concentrate on it so much appreciated :-)

Haven't got round to marking them as a series yet but I posted a couple of drabbles, one called "The Daft Days" and the other "A Different Christmas Day". I thought I should try to explain just how it all came about..........

Author's Response: Yes, after I wrote that, I used my brain and looked at your SDL profile - I loved both of those, so am glad to hear there is more to come !! :-)

I love this, Joey, and understand her need to be on stage. Nothing beats the adrenalin rush of captivating an audience. I have a dear friend who has announced her retirement at the age of 77!

Author's Response: Thank you - the starting point for this drabble was Joey singing / performing etc when young, then not really much after that, as well as her not marrying Jack, it's been really interesting seeing where those two things take her.

That was super, Beecharmer, and how amazing to find out about your grandmother's work. They really were a special breed, and life and death was often in the hands of the radio interceptors.

In my Wartime Meeting drabble one of the CS characters is about to get involved in something secret but it'll be so secret it will only be mentioned in one chapter! And, honest, I did have most of it written before i read this!

Author's Response: I kniw that feeling!! It often happens, and I wouldn't think at all that it had come from this - but nice you said!! And thank you about Gran, I still miss her, though she'd hate to still be here. She had outlived so many people that it got her down quite a lot towards the end, so she'd be glad she's not here but we still miss her!!

This is so real, beecharmer. It also ties in with a drabble in the Kelly series I am trying to get round to posting!

Author's Response: That sounds good ! What / Where is the Kelly Series?

This is powerful stuff, and authentic detail too. Those artists who went to the States to work for the cause were often unfairly pilloried and life in POW camps, even for officers, was tough.

Author's Response: Thank you. I did think I hope it was realistic, from my limited knowledge and internet research. I was surprised to read actually how relatively well Allied POWs were treated compared to other nationalities, but even so it would have been a hard war for them all, and limited food and not much to do would make life hard for everyone.

I feel for Jo - it might be easier for her once the US is in the War and she can raise funds, entertain the troops and still have a career.

Author's Response: Yes; I think that will make it easier for Jo to decide. :-) Thank you for both reviews!

Good for Corney! Imagine knowing Peggy Gilbert and Kay Boley - swoon!

Author's Response: Lol. Was it you then who told me about them? I found it quite interesting learning about them, I hope its not too unlikely a plot direction!

Must have been so difficult for those who did have secret work to do, not able to tell family and friends what you were doing and having people think you were dodging the column. Looking forward to hearing more about Jo's book,

Author's Response: Yes, it was a brave thing to do, risk misunderstandings while actually doing a lot of good. :-)

How did I miss this double update? Great to see the end of the war. Of course, people were just relieved that the Japanese were defeated, especially in light of the atrocities committed in the conquered territories and the POW camps - it took some time for the horrific nature of atomic warfare to be understood. Glad that Phil made it back in one piece and hope he and Joey can get together again.....

So interesting to see how things could have been! Like the idea of Jem and Madge trying to get Robin to do social work instead of being a nun. I'll look forward to Jo's return - and a meeting with Phil, maybe?

Author's Response: Possibly! Well - probably, at some stage !! Thanks for reviewing, glad it is still interesting.

That was such a lovely and very real description of how children do not do what is confidently expected of them that I can wait a little while for the meeting of Jo and Phil - but, please, only a little while!

Author's Response: Thank you, glad it seems real, always encourages me when people say that !

This is just what happened to so many men and so many relationships after the war. There were still a lot of damaged veterans of the WW1 around when I was a child, and though there was maybe a bit more treatment available for the WW2 casualties it was still difficult. Families suffered - the father of one of my brother's classmates managed to hold down a job but would go into a fit of trembling, crying and wetting himself if there was an unexpected loud noise. The poor boy couldn't bring friends home or have any toy that could possibly make a noise and the children in their block of flats didn't play in the communal back garden or in the close.
