Summary: A look at the lives of various Chalet School characters in later years. Set ~ 30 years after Coming of Age, but with a little EBD-like stretching of the years, so rather than the mid 80s which would be technically correct, is set "Not quite now but not too long ago". Best way I can see to look at it is to use EBD's own method and lose a few years along the way with no explanation. You can choose which years you want to lose, personally I think a few from each decade will do it! Warning, the age of the characters does mean various ones have died and may die, or be seriously ill. That isn't the main focus of the drabble though.

Story Notes:
This is in same world as the Hilda & Nell & Tom and Bride stories, but both of those are based on the book universes, rather than an alternate one, so it isn't needed to read those unless you want to as a reminder. Hilda & Nell are an established couple, as are Tom & Bride, Kathie & Nancy. This isn't specifically a slash drabble however, in fact the only romance that looks to be raising it's head so far is a straight one.

1. Chapter 1 - Madge not feeling her age by Tom [Reviews - 19] starstarstarstarstar (2572 words)
I'm posting this as one big chapter. It's a bit wordy, but hope it sets the scene. The basis of this drabble is that quite a few characters will pop in and out, with a core set of Madge Russell, Hilda Annerlsey & Nell Wilson. This does follow on from Hilda & Nell and A Chance meeting for Tom, but both of those are based on the book universes, rather than an alternate one, so it isn't needed to read those unless you want to as a reminder. This isn't specifically a slash drabble, though there are core slash partnerships. The only likely romances that might appear so far are straight ones. As said in the story details, this is set "nearly about now" so a little bit of artistic licence is needed in terms of losing a few decades of extra years in real time compared to Chalet school time. That is quite in the tradition of EBD though, so hopefully no one will mind too much !

2. Chapter 2 by Tom [Reviews - 3] (1948 words)
Thank you for the welcome for the story. I had intended on posting approximately weekly, but life got in the way, sorry! Here is a little more.

3. Chapter 3 by Tom [Reviews - 3] (4183 words)
Apologies for the delay, but this little episode came to me and it fitted better here than at the end of the other bits written. To make up for the week missing, this is a monster of an update, sorry for those who, like me, find smaller ones easier !

4. Chapter 4 by Tom [Reviews - 3] starstarstarstarstar (2269 words)
A smaller update this time, just moving the story on. I realised I made a mistake in mentally setting Madge as still being at the Round House, so had been trying to remove all mentions, but instead have just decided that she and Jem moved back there at some stage, though it probably won't matter much either way going forward.

5. Chapter 5 by Tom [Reviews - 2] starstarstarstarstar (2602 words)
Little bit melodramatic ending to this update but have decided to go with it. Thanks for patience, hoping to get to perhaps two weekly updates now even if can't manage to get it edited and up weekly.

6. Chapter 6 by Tom [Reviews - 3] starstarstarstarstar (1283 words)
Apologies for delay!

7. Chapter 7 by Tom [Reviews - 4] starstarstarstarstar (2265 words)
Sorry for delay. I suspect it could be a little while before the next update too, so I've left this as a fairly long update, since it didn't have many good stopping points. Thanks for your patience to still be reading ! Weirdly, I've just read an article and found out that a collection of women have actually done this, created their own retirement community, supporting each other ! I hadn't heard of it when I started this, but am unexpectedly true to life ! I kept looking at the pictures and slightly expecting to see Nell, Hilda, Madge et al in the names of the people who had built the group of homes!
