"The Back of Schiehallion" - Schiehallion is a mountain in Perthshire. It is conical in shape and geographically fairly near the centre of mainland Scotland, so the "Back of Schiehallion" is a reference to Scotland.

Not only was it considered unlucky for the householder to be his/her own first foot, in our family no-one could go out of the house until a first foot had arrived.
