Lovely take on Hilda meeting her cousin again. But she must have been really surprised that he recognised the ring and even more so by his conclusion about Nell. How nice they had a ceremony even if not legal then.
Thank you =)
I'm sure she was completely astonished; I wouldn't expect any of the men in my family to recognise an heirloom piece of jewellery! I guess the RAF must have trained him well in observation.
In my head, I just can't see Hilda and Nell reconciling their religion and their relationship without having made some kind of solemn commitment before God. Someday soon I shall probably write, if not the ceremony itself, then the circumstances surrounding it, as it's one of my favourite parts of my Tirol-era head canon.
Thank you for reviewing!

In fact Edgar recognised Nell's ring as belonging to his and Hilda's family other would not know the history of the rings and so make an educated judgement,
This is true, but as Headmistress (and one who loves her job almost as much as she loves her partner), I do think Hilda would go in for a little undue stressing and need to be calmed down by Nell.
Thank you for reading and taking the time to review =)

An interesting "take"! I'm impressed that Hilda's cousin approved of the relationship - and with his powers of observation about those rings!! Thank you.
You're welcome =)
I always read Edgar Mordaunt as caring very much about Hilda, so even though it's an unconventional viewpoint for him to hold I just can't see him responding in any way other than being glad that she's happy and not alone. (Well, he'd be concerned for her safety too, of course, but I think he reassured himself here that she's very discreet about it all.)
