LOL! Oh goodness, a drunken Hilda... Of course Nell is laughing at her and being unhelpful (and none too sober herself, I'd say - the animals in the ark bit finished me off completely!).

Sorry to hear this proabably won't be finished, but what there is well merits reviewing :)

I really like your description of the sunset and lake here, and Litovsky's apparent conversation with the woman in red is intriguing.

Even in text I feel a strong urge to strangle Miss Brandon - poor Hilda and Nell! I suspect Nell might actually strangle her, or at least tell her very plainly how much they don't appreciate her company, though Hilda is trying to restrain her... If they're lucky she might leave them alone and go off after Alejandro instead, and if she doesn't at least they have Felix and Nicholas as reinforcements. I think they'll get on considerably better (loved Nell lecturing Felix about grammar!).

Author's Response:

Ah. Hehe. This story. D'you know, Seven was nagging me at one of the Oxford meets about two years ago, asking if I were ever going to finish this, and I had to admit I'd forgotten the plot…

(ordinarily, Nell would tackle something a little more challenging, but then it is only the first day of their walking holiday)

*snort* Is Hilda gonig to survive this walking holiday?

I love the desrciptions at the beginning. I'm intrigued by the woman in red coat - especially given the title.

I like Nicholas and Felix already! I'd be tempted to strangle Felix too, I think ;)

I love this opening :) It sets the scene well, and their bantering is perfect! And I like Hilda wondering why she ever let Nell persuade her to go mountaineering, even as she fully admires the views.

So who's crying, who's going to die and just WHAT is Hilda going to do about her new friend?!? (Lessons from Madame Denny, perchance? ;-D )

Thank you for the update!

Author's Response:

I didn't get her drunk. Felix and Nick did. And Nell, she didn't help.

Thanks for the review!

Hi Finn. Is there anything significant (other than a possible EBDism!) in the fact that Felix calls his friend 'Nicholas Fairbrother' in the previous chapter but he's 'Mr Chilcott' in this one..?

But it's all very intriguing anyway!

Author's Response:

Erm...no comment! Thanks for the review!
